Students may apply for a scholarship to attend professional language instruction in languages currently listed by the federal government as “critical” languages under the Critical Language Scholarship Program.

The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. Participants are expected to continue his or her language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply his or her critical language skills in his or her future professional careers.
